Refresh and Transition from Winter to Spring!

Drink nettle tea to prepare for allergies: nettle leaf may be useful in reducing the symptoms of hay fever by acting as an anti-inflammatory. Research shows that there is evidence to suggest that nettle can affect the receptors and enzymes involved in allergic reactions.

 

Refresh your skincare: Time to start dry brushing and exfoliating the dead winter skin off. Swap any heavy creams for lighter creams and gels. During the spring you are likely to be spending more time outside in the sun, which is fantastic but remember to use SPF! Don’t forget to Spring clean your skincare shelf; check expiration dates and toss out old dated products.

Incorporate seasonal produce into your diet: Spring is the kapha time of year, which means that the earth and water elements are becoming dominant. Ayurveda advises local, seasonal eating and as we enter Kapha season, it is a great time to enjoy lighter meals rather than the dense soups, stews, and casseroles that nourish us in fall and winter. Now’s the time to replace heavy, oily, sour, and sweet foods with foods that are pungent, bitter, astringent, dry, and light.

Start become more active especially outdoors- As the temperature shifts, you might begin to feel some shifts in your body and a desire for more exercise and time outside. This is a great time for long walks, hiking and cycling outdoors.

Spring clean your space-Begin in your lived-in areas and declutter any un-used and unwanted things.
